Irish Air Corps return to Newcastle

First up in todays confirmations is the Irish Air Corps who will be returning to Newcastle after a 1 year break with their CASA CN235 Maritime Patrol aircraft. These long-range aircraft patrol throughout the Irish exclusive fishery limits however will be repaced around 2019 by the Irish Air Corps.

The Irish Air Corps were unable to attend Newcastle in 2017 however will be providing excellent support this summer. Interestingly the Irish Air Corps CASA was the very first plane to display in the first Newcastle (Then Harry Ferguson) Festival of Flight back in 2010.

The CASA CN-235 is a medium-range twin-engined transport aircraft that was jointly developed by Construcciones Aeronáuticas SA (CASA) of Spain and Indonesian manufacturer IPTN, as a regional airliner and military transport.

Its primary military roles include maritime patrol, surveillance, and air transport. Ireland took delivery of their 2 CASA aircraft in 1994

The CASA was last in Newcastle in 2015 and I look forward to seeing the maritime patrol aircraft once again.

We will have another confirmation later this evening! (Photos by myself )
