Day 3 of our Portrush profile isn’t actually an aircraft but a parachute display team who will be ‘Jumping in’ on both days of Air Waves Portrush 2015!
The Wild Geese are based just 19 miles from Portrush the Wild Geese Parachute Display Team will return for both show days having performed at nearly every show since 2002. The five person team has also performed at events as far afield as Germany, France and Portugal and last year debuted the small canopy jump on the beach.
Their jumps are not exclusive to airshows and have displayed at Premiership football matches for the likes of Manchester United and Liverpool as well as Ulster Rugby matches and the North West 200 race.
The Wild Geese Skydive centre is situated in the Borough of Coleraine (near Garvagh) providing a spectacular landscape for the thousands of people who have made jumps with the team.
The Display Team itself is made up of experienced club members, usually 5 jumpers at any one event, who will have logged between them many thousands of jumps.
The Sky Centre was founded in 1983 and is by far one of the best equipped centres within the British Parachute Association (B.P.A.). The Sky Centre, which is open to the public, has full catering facilities, TVs, video/DVD players and a pool table. A purpose-built hangar houses the aircraft: a Cessna Caravan and a Cessna 206
We look forward to seeing them in Portrush on the 5th & 6th September (Information taken from both the Air Waves Portrush official page and the Wild Geese official page. Image from Air Waves Portrush website and taken by Mike Murphy)
Check back tomorrow when we plan to profile two different aircraft in an attempt to cover everything before the weekend of the airshow!
