Rescue At The Double
There will be 2 rescue helicopter demonstrations at Air Waves Portrush this year. On the Saturday we will have the popular return of the Irish Coastguard S92 and for variety on Sunday the Royal Navy Sea King from Prestwick will be in Portrush.
Irish Coastguard S-92
The Irish Coastguard S-92 from Sligo on the west coast of Ireland will be performing a Search and Rescue Role Demo with the Portrush Lifeboat on the Saturday of Air Waves Portush 2015. With the backdrop of The Skerries, the demonstration makes a great photo opportunity. Although the details of the flying display timings are in the early stages of planning, for those with cameras the expected time of the S-92 demonstration will be around 3pm – final confirmation of timings will be released nearer the show dates.
Royal Navy Sea King
Conducting the Search and Rescue Demo on the Sunday will be a Royal Navy Sea King HAR.5 from 771 Sqn at Prestwick (HMS Gannet). With the civilianisation of the Search and Rescue role in the UK there is every possibility that the demonstration will be the last RN SAR demo from crews at Prestwick and possibly for the whole of the UK, again more information as we get closer to the show.
